Kendrick Lamar Admits Disappointment At Having To Cancel Kanye West 'Yeezus' Tour Shows

It seems Kanye West didn't just disappoint his fans when he cancelled a number of shows on his 'Yeezus' tour with support act Kendrick Lamar admitting he was gutted to miss out on performing in cities including Chicago, Denver and Vancouver.

'New Slaves' rapper Kanye announced last week that he would have to cancel several upcoming shows on the North America and Canadian jaunt after equipment that was pivotal to the show was damaged in a car crash.

While it has now been confirmed that the tour will resume on November 16 in Philadelphia, Kendrick Lamar, who is supporting the rapper on the trek, admits that he was keen to hit the stage in the ill-fated cities.

Speaking to MTV News, Kendrick said: “I was looking forward to them cities man. Now we gotta wait and sit back but I'll go in the studio and put that energy into the booth. But I definitely was looking forward to them cities. Hopefully, we get back on as soon as possible.”

Kendrick, who has quickly become one of the hottest acts in hip-hop over the last couple of years, reveals that being on tour with Kanye is one big learning experience and despite being the achievement of being chosen as the only special guest on the 'Yeezus' tour, Kendrick says he's still a huge fan of the iconic rapper.

“First off, just being a fan of his work and actually going on tour with him, that's just a whole 'nother world,” Kendrick revealed.

“Second, watching him perform and seeing how much he put into his presence onstage, it just reassures me that coming out the booth, you gotta take just as much attention on that stage, and put work in on that."

“It's a great experience, man and I'm happy, I'm excited. It's a blessing for sure,” Kendrick added.

A Def Jam spokesperson released a statement last week on behalf of Kanye, stating that they were unable to continue with the performances until the expensive equipment, which included a 60ft LED screen, had been replaced.
“This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA,” the statement reads.

“As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated. Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.

“The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly.”
